Last night started with tons of period like cramps. Not anything that could be timed but just a constant dull ache (definitely not like the BH I've been experiencing). I've also had a ton of mucous when I've wiped today and yesterday. No blood though. Now, I've been having super painful contractions since 5pm ish. Like I have to stop what I'm doing & can't talk when I'm having one kind of pain. I had to work for a bit tonight (I know, I'm insane) so I've just started timing them. They're about 10 minutes apart now.
I'm excited to finally meet this little guy and welcome him into our family but I'm also freaking out scared. Scared of the labor (I know I've managed it before but you never know what could happen), scared of the pain (I'm really trying to stay positive about this and think that with each contraction, we're that much closer to holding baby in our arms), and just scared of the unknown. Perhaps some of this fear is coming from my hormones?
I'm going to try and get some rest although I have NO idea how I'm going to actually sleep through these contractions.
Wish us luck!

It keeps getting grosser
Just when I thought nothing could get grosser, I wiped after I went to the bathroom and globs of mucus came out along with a hard, solid piece of something the size of my pinkie. It was brownish and the only way to describe it is to say it looks like a flattened piece of meat. Disgusting.
I know I lost my MP 3 weeks ago and at my last Dr's appt, she confirmed again that I didn't have a mucous plug anymore so IDK what the heck this could be. I know they can regrow but that fast? And something so big? Lol, Google has been no help to me.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see at my next appt on Friday.

The girl who cried baby.
My life feels like it's closely mirroring an Aesop's Fable.
Yesterday, D was out at the farm getting the land ready for the trees and Hudson and I went out after our afternoon naps around 3. Earlier, around noon, I started feeling contractions. They weren't super painful, I could talk through most of them but were very regular, coming every 10-12 minutes. I continued to keep an eye on them and put it in the back of my mind until I felt something needed to be done.
We visited with the family and had Easter supper and then around 6 I decided to tell D what was going on since the contractions were still every 10-12 minutes (I wasn't timing, I was just looking at a clock). I called my mom and she told me that I should go to the hospital to get checked out since that was the only true way to ensure I was in labor and they've been regular for the last 6 hours. I was hesitant (and scared really) about what to do. I didn't want to overreact but I also didn't want to have my baby on the side of the highway (further explanation to follow).
D started timing them (with my iphone app) and they were coming every 7ish minutes and felt more intense but nothing that wasn't manageable. Because it was getting late for Hudson we had to come up with a plan for where he would sleep. We decided to tell everyone what was going on. I didn't want everyone to freak out or make a big deal about it, especially since we didn't know if this was it or not. Well, of course that happened. D's great aunt and uncle kept talking about people having babies on the side of the highway (there has been 2 in the news recently) and then my aunt called (because my mom called her) and I told her that I didn't know what to do since they were manageable and not yet 5 minutes apart (what everyone says they should be before you go to the hospital). She then tells me a story about a lady who had a baby in a field because she waited and said that I should be better safe than sorry. Not helpful.
We decided to leave Hudson at the farm overnight and headed to the hospital at 8pm. In Assessment, they hooked me up to the monitors and even though I was still having contractions 5-7 minutes apart, they were still manageable but getting more uncomfortable. The resident checked me and I was 2cm and 50% effaced. No change. AT. ALL. So she said they would keep me if I wanted morphine for the pain otherwise I should go home and try and get some rest and come back when things are unmanageable or 3-5 minutes apart.
We got home and went to bed and I slept crappy with lots on my mind. My contractions were few and far between overnight but now this morning seem to be back every 10-15 minutes.
I'm just so frustrated. Frustrated that when I was clearly upset and unsure of what to do several people would tell me stories about not making it to the hospital. Frustrated that 8.5 hours of contractions did NOTHING to advance my progress. Frustrated that they went away and didn't continue to progress. Frustrated that I left the hospital AGAIN without a baby this month and frustrated that this is the second time that I even had to go to the hospital thinking 'this was it'. It just feels like such a let down.

38w & Happy Easter!
How far along: 38w
Total weight gain/loss: 25 pounds (ish)
Maternity clothes: Maternity, definitely
Stretch marks: All over my belly now. Purple ones spreading around my belly button. Gross really.
Sleep: Naps, yes please.
Best moment this week: Realizing that I only really have 14 days left at the max
Movement: Slowed down quite a bit.
Food cravings: Nothing really.
Gender: BOY!!
Labor Signs: Lost my MP, 2cm and 50% effaced, cervix is soft and ripe (as of 37w4d), Braxton hicks are coming more often now.
Belly Button in or out? Outie
What I miss: not having something to obsess over!
What I am looking forward to: Meeting this little guy!
Milestone: I've never made it into the 38th week!
Happy Easter! We're going to D's mom and dad's today to hang out with the family and hang out for the day. D, along with help from his brothers are rototilling our 3 acre lot and getting it ready to plant the 720 tree seedlings that are coming in 2 weeks. For now we're just planting them around 3 sides, along the fence line in 3 rows. Sort of bad timing with me and the new baby but the delivery date is set and can't be changed. Hopefully the planting will go well and we'll have lots of help and won't take long.
Tonight we're having supper at the farm and last time I went into labor with Hudson the night we had Thanksgiving dinner at their house. Perhaps a holiday meal is the key to me going into labor ;)

No news to report yet
I'm back to driving myself crazy. Every sign or symptom that comes up makes me believe that labor is eminent. If you would have asked me yesterday, I would have said that for SURE, this baby is coming in the next 24 hours, no doubt in my mind. Well. Nothing yet. I need to learn to relax.
My problem is that I never really experienced a true labor before (in the sense that I'm having to time contractions etc). My water broke so it was easy to tell when I had to go to the hospital, a no brainer. This time, I have no idea when to tell when things are getting close. I don't know what it feels like leading UP to real labor contractions and what your body does to get itself ready. I remember what a real labor contraction felt like but again, I've also heard that they are much more painful if your water breaks because you no longer have the water to insulate them. Who knows if this is true. I just feel so anxious about the whole thing, you'd think it was my first.
Thursday, I came home from my dr's appointment and my back was in so much pain. It felt awful, like nothing I've felt before in my lower back. I tried laying on a heating pad and taking 2 extra strength tylenol to help with the pain (Hudson was with my MIL for the afternoon) and 3 hours later, it still was there. I could barely get out of bed. So then I started thinking, maybe this is what back labor feels like? The doctor did say his head was tilted up so it could be possible. Except it was a constant pain and I couldn't time anything to figure out if it was a contraction.
Finally, D and Hudson came home and after getting some sleep, the pain mostly went away. Few hours later it came back and stayed for a couple hours but again, went away. And it hasn't come back since.
Then yesterday, I was having BH off and on all day, some more painful then others. I threw up in the morning and felt nauseous most of the day. I also had diarrhea a few times coupled with the constant feeling that I need to poop. (but mostly couldn't). But now, nothing. I feel like I might as well be 34 weeks and just big and uncomfortable. No wonder why people go to the hospital when they think they are in labor just to get sent home due to false labor.
I just feel like if you look at the whole picture, of everything that happened yesterday and the fact that I'm 2cm, lost my mucous plug 2 1/2 weeks ago, and have a super soft, squishy cervix, then it makes sense why I'm acting the way I am. My body is definitely making progress and labor IS approaching but doesn't mean that it's hours away like my brain would like to think it is.
I know that I'm only 37w6d so to be real, I still have quite a bit of time before this baby may decide to come. It could be weeks. WEEKS. I need to remember that he'll come when he's ready, not when I am.

Gone to where I've never gone before
Today I've officially been the most pregnant I've ever been. Last time at this time I was holding a newborn baby in my arms and in a considerable amount of pain from the labor. Ahh, the memories.
Today at my doctor's appointment she checked me and I'm 2 cm and 50% effaced which is pretty good considering last week I was 1cm and 25% effaced. She also said that the baby's head is right there and said she was able to feel my amniotic sac which grossed me out a little (I'm not sure why). I'm hoping this means any day now since I had Hudson 3 days after the doctor told me I was 0 cm and 75% effaced.
I've also been having TONS of cramping and braxton hicks but no real labor contractions. The doctor also said that his head is sideways and kinda facing upwards which is exactly how Hudson was when he was delivered. That explains the more than uncomfortability I've been having in my tailbone and back of my hips. I'm just hoping that he decides to face down and straight so we don't have a reoccurence with the baby trying to come out sideways and with a vacuum. Not much I can do about it though. Right now I'm just going to focus on resting and saving up my energy.
Hudson got his 18 month shots today. He was not happy about it and cried and cried but he calmed down pretty quickly after. He knew what was coming this time so the nurse wasn't able to catch him off guard at all. He's 33.5 inches tall (in the 75th percentile) and 26 lbs 14 oz (in the 60th percentile). She had no concerns with his eating habits (he eats pretty much anything we eat) and is happy that he's brushing his teeth regularly and drinking lots of milk. She was also happy that he's great at following directions and simple instructions. She did put us on the speech pathologist's waiting list though because he 'should' be saying between 25-50 words right now. He's only got about 10 or so that he says. She says that there's a long waiting list to see them and most likely he'll be talking up a storm by the time they call so not so worry. At least this way we're on the list if he's not.
Keep your fingers crossed for an Easter weekend baby!

37w & relaxation
How far along: 37w 1d-FULL TERM!!!
Total weight gain/loss: 23 pounds (ish)
Maternity clothes: Maternity, definitely
Stretch marks: they keep coming, growing like vines across my belly :(
Sleep: Naps, yes please.
Best moment this week: Making it to FULL TERM!
Movement: Lots!
Food cravings: It varies from minute to minute, lol. Pizza, fruit, milk, etc. Nothing too crazy.
Gender: BOY!!
Labor Signs: Lost my MP, 1cm and 25% effaced (as of 35w2d), Braxton hicks are coming more often now.
Belly Button in or out? Outie
What I miss: not being crazy and being in control of my emotions (for the most part, lol).
What I am looking forward to: Meeting this little guy!
Milestone: FULL TERM!
Full term, WHOO HOO! Baby you can come any time now :)
After my craziness the past few days, I decided to be a bit more rational about things yesterday. What a relief it was. I wasn't worried about anything and was able to finally relax. Now to keep that going for the coming days... It's hard but I'll just take it one day at a time and enjoy my last few days with Hudson as an only child.
I have another Dr's appt on Thursday and he's going to check me. I'm curious to see if these Braxton Hicks have been doing anything progress wise (although I know that progress doesn't necessarily mean anything!)

Charlie Sheen's got nothing on me.
I have fallen off the deep end. Not really a stretch for me but nonetheless, I am fully on the road to crazy town.
Trying to figure out when exactly I will be going into labor is making me certifiable.
Ever since my water broke at 35 weeks, I've been on high alert. Before that, I was quite complacent in thinking that this baby would decide to come at the very end of April (my original guess was the 26th or 29th). Now if you ask me, I would guess that I will go into labor within the next hour AND be able to give you a list of specific reasons of why this is so. I know, crazy.
Let me demonstrate with more examples;
-I have googled every symptom, sign, etc for early labor and I have them all (including nasal congestion!)
-I went back and reread my posts from the days leading up to Hudson and (I think) it's similar. Although it might as well have been 100 years ago and not 18 months because I don't remember much from the 24 hours leading up (exept I made 2 pies and had Thanksgiving dinner at the inlaws)
-Every.Single.Time. I get up to pee in the middle of the night (so like 12 times) and come back and sit on the bed I think my water is about to break. That's how it happened with Hudson so naturally that's how it'll happen this time too. Right?
-I'm trying to make sure things are done around here, just in case. Like updating my phone. Why it's necessary at 9pm on a Sat is beyond me but it had to be done last night. Just in case.
And my personal favorite:
-I've checked the lunar calendar and there is a full moon tonight which leads me to believe that I'll go into labor AT ANY TIME (to be fair to my crazy self, Hudson was born on a new moon and my water broke with baby 2 on a new moon as well-so maybe not a stretch??)
I'll spare you with the rest of my crazy antics. Seeing as I've been through this before one would think I'd know what to look out for and not flinch at every new 'symptom' and think to myself 'is this it?'. Of course not!
For whatever's left of my sanity, I hope this baby comes soon.

Oh, the joys of pregnancy
The past few days have included boughts of lightning crotch, having multiple breakdowns about ridiculous things, no longer being able to shave my own legs, 3 am insomnia, and hot flushes.
I think the end is near.
I think the end is near.

And so it begins
Now that Hudson is a bit older, I love taking him out and having him experiencing new things. We have done swimming lessons (which I'd like to start again), the library storytime, music classes (which I'd love to take both kids to), and I've been looking for something he can do that's flexible, not a big commitment, something that expends a bit of his energy but also has the interaction and socialization with other kids that I think he's been missing. Because he doesn't get a chance to play with other kids very often (the downside of a work at home momma) it's important for him to learn to play with other children.
I was looking online and found a playgroup that is in our town. It's in a church basement and offered Wed and Thur mornings and is only $2. No sign up required. Perfect!
We went this morning and all in all it was a good experience. There was about 6 or 7 other moms there and about 12 kids in total along with a ton of toys for the kids to play with. Hudson immediately set off to play with the Little People station, not giving the other kids a second look. I sat on the ground and we played for a bit and then I tried coaxing him to walk around to all the other stations to see all the other toys and kids. He went from station to station having a quick look until he found the kitchen set and a group of girls about 4 years old.
The girls were more interested in playing with me since I was practically the only mom who wasn't sitting over by the coffee machine chatting about mini vans and Sparks. We all played for a bit but I noticed that the harder Hudson tried to interact with the girls, the more they acted like he had the black plague. I felt so bad. He tried and tried to play with the girls, seeking their approval by trying to hand them different plastic food shaped items but they refused and ignored him and literally turned their back on him. Then my baby thought it was a game and was laughing and kept trying to play. I tried to explain to the girls that he's only little and that he is just trying to play with them but the girls didn't care and continued to keep him away. One girl even tried shooing him away. I tried to pull him away and distract him so we could play with something else, away from the girls, but no deal. He wanted to stay.
After a bit, he got the idea and walked off to play with some cars and a group of boys. They all happily sat and drove the cars around a mat, crashing them into eachother and sharing the cars amongst themselves.
Hudson learnt an invaluable lesson today; he's going to spend the rest of his life trying to seek approval from girls. I just had no idea it would have started this soon.

Verbage
I am sad to say that I don't exactly know when Hudson started talking. Around a year he began calling everything Da-Da whether it was his toy car, me, or actually even D. At some point he transitioned and recognized that D was infact Da-Da and everything else had different names.
Now he's got a few more words under his belt. Ma-Ma, gall (in place of ball), uh-oh, and on rare instances we've caught him saying doggie and horsie.
The 'experts' say he should be saying between 25-50 words by now but that's a far reach for our monkey.
Instead of him focusing on his words I think he's focusing more on understanding what we're saying and following commands and requests. If I ask; he'll go get Maddie's leash for me when we go outside, he'll go up or down the stairs, go to his room when I ask if he needs a diaper change, he'll go get my shoes for me, gather up his toys, get his milk and water cups before meals, and a multitude of other things he helps with on a daily basis.
I'm not concerned that he's not exactly 'where he should be'. It'll come on his own time just like everything else.
Now he's got a few more words under his belt. Ma-Ma, gall (in place of ball), uh-oh, and on rare instances we've caught him saying doggie and horsie.
The 'experts' say he should be saying between 25-50 words by now but that's a far reach for our monkey.

The waiting game
I'm on the weekly plan now at the doctor. He said that everything was looking good today, the baby's heart rate was a bit high at 163bpm but nothing to be worried about. He also said that I look much better than the last time he saw me which is good! He noticed that I am a bit swollen but considering the iv fluid pushed through my body, he wasn't surprised.
Other than that, not much new to report.
D is guessing that the baby will make his arrival on the 18th (which is Sunday). I originally thought it would be the 26th or the 29th but I'm going to change and guess the 21st or 24th. Good Friday is the 22nd and that would be perfect timing for D with him getting an extra day off work.
A week-ish left?

36w & Happy Birthday!!
How far along: 36w
Total weight gain/loss: 23 pounds (ish)
Maternity clothes: Maternity, definitely
Stretch marks: they keep coming.
Sleep: Naps are critical at this point.
Best moment this week: Knowing that baby isn't here yet and doing fine and getting out of the hospital.
Movement: Tons of pushing and stretching.
Food cravings: Just super thirsty.
Gender: BOY!!
Labor Signs: Lost my MP, 1cm and 25% effaced
Belly Button in or out? Outie
What I miss: moving like a 'normal' person
What I am looking forward to: spending the day with my awesome little family.
Milestone: 1 more week to full term. You can do it baby!
Today is D and my birthday! Hooray!!! People were asking what we wanted to do but after last week's exhausting events and the double hospital trips I honestly just feel like laying low and getting in some of our own family time. I'm going to make a cake and we're going to have a BBQ for supper. I'm sure we'll throw in some outdoor time as well. Just do nothing but fun things and relaxing. Sounds like my kinda day.
Off to enjoy the family and the sun!

The Standoff
Hudson has entered a phase affectionately known as 'the-do-what-I-want-when-I-want-or-I'll-scream-and-throw-a-fit' phase.
Wonderful.
It all started when my mom came to watch Hudson while I was sick and in the hospital. She watched him in the day while Devin was at work. She doesn't get to see him much, which in no way is an excuse, but may provide somewhat of an explanation. She bought tons of treats for him, carried him when he wanted & basically gave him his way. Now we're stuck with a monster.
Coincidence or not, things need to change. No more juice, no more sugary treats, no more giving in to his tantrums just because.
Even though my energy supply is limited these days, I bet I can still outlast you, bucko.

Yesterday went downhill for me. I still had a fever and couldn't keep any food or anything to drink down. My mom came to look after Hudson again and I made an appt to see my dr to figure out what was going on.
After describing to him the events on Sunday, and him doing an ultrasound, he said that intact I did break my water but it had just reassure by the time we got to the hospital hence the negative tests and the no leaking. (I knew it!!!)
He was concerned that I wasn't keeping anything down and that I had had a fever since none of that are good, especially in the end weeks of pregnancy. He said that if I was 37 weeks, it'd be a no brainer, he'd induce me and we'd have this kid right away. But since I'm only 35w2d he admitted me to the hospital for observation instead.
They put me on a saline drip and pushed fluids through. I haven't eaten anything other than a Popsicle last night but I can keep fluids down. My fever's gone too. More importantly, the baby is doing great and every time they checked him he's been a perfect angel.
The dr said that they weren't going to give me any medicine and it would be clear if I was improving or making a turn for the worse.
Even though my sleep was crappy (the girl next to me went into active labor overnight) I feel much better. My fever is gone and every thing else is normal so I would expect to be leaving sometime today. Keep your fingers crossed, this baby has a few more weeks of cooking to do!!

Sick (& tired)
I've been sick all day. My mom offered to come up for the day to watch Hudson with all the chaos last night so I called her early this morning and took her up on her offer. I can't keep any solid foods down making me think it's not just the re re return of morning sickness. I've been cramping lots today too as well as just feeling achy and super tired.
I'm getting to the point where I just want to feel like myself again. Not sore, not tired, not sick, not anything but normal.

False Alarm
Yesterday, I was in the kitchen making supper when I bent over and felt a pop and a small gush. I ran to the bathroom and my underwear and pants were soaked although no fluid was on the floor. I wiped and it was really wet and clear with some mucous and bright red blood.
D asked what was wrong and I told him that I think my water just broke. The rest happened so fast. D called his brother to come get Hudson and stay with him, I had a shower and finished packing my hospital bag (good thing I had started), and D was trying his best to keep me calm.
The whole time I thought for sure it was my water. I would have bet my life on it i was so sure.
We went off to the hospital and I got admitted, a room, changed into a gown, and answered a ton of questions. They hooked the monitors up on me and the baby was doing great.
The only thing different about this time than last was that when my water broke with Hudson, it didn't stop coming out. I leaked all the way to the hospital and onto the ER floor. Contractions started on the ride in.
This time, there was no more leaking after the one small gush. No contractions either. They tested for amnio and the test came up negative.
They checked internally and got a swab for the microscope and it was negative too. No one really could explain what it was, just that it likely wasn't my water breaking. They said that it was likely either a build up of urine (which I don't buy since there was blood and the rest was clear) or a build up of discharge and the pressure of bending over released it. Soon after, I was discharged.
I don't know what it was but I still swear it felt like my water had broke. It is weird that it stopped but nothing seems to make sense. I ended up having a couple of contractions later that night but nothing that lasted or was frequent.
So for now, we're chalking it up to a dry run and labor watch 2011 has begun.

35w & the 35
How far along: 35w
Total weight gain/loss: 23 pounds (ish)
Maternity clothes: Maternity, definitely
Stretch marks: a ton of new ones have made their appearance, all around my belly button area.
Sleep: Not good but I've come to terms that it's not going to get any better. Naps are my friend.
Best moment this week: Making make ahead meals, Hudson's first haircut, lots!!
Movement: Tons of pushing and stretching.
Food cravings: Licorice, yum!
Gender: BOY!!
Labor Signs: nope.
Belly Button in or out? Outie
What I miss: moving like a 'normal' person
What I am looking forward to: story time at the library on Thurs and my pedicure also Thurs!
Milestone: 2 weeks til full term!! OMG
Today is my 35/35! 35 weeks pregnant and 35 days left to go until my due date! Everyone seems to think that I'll be early again, including the dr, so my guess is anywhere from the mid-end of April. Easter weekend would be perfect little guy :)
I'm having much more difficulty doing things now than even a week ago. It's near impossible for me to bend down and pick something up (Hudson will help me most of the time) and even getting up from the couch has become a process. In my head I keep telling myself, only 2 weeks to go, only 2 weeks to go, lol. Let's hope I don't have to wait the 35 or worse yet, be overdue!
Yesterday was busy but such a fun day! I went for my last prenatal massage then I met D and some friends and we made some make ahead meals at a local store. We did that with Hudson too and I really enjoyed it. Making the meals is pretty fun and having meals that you can just throw together and not have to think about when I'm tired is even better!!!
After, we took the munchkin for his first haircut! He sat so good in the jeep and didn't even want any of the candy or other bribes that I brought just in case. They had so many distractions there that she clipped and trimmed away with no problem. Now he looks even more like a little boy instead of my baby.
Here's the handsome boy before, during, and after (after picture isn't great, with all the distractions I couldn't get him to look at the camera)
