6 month check up

At the 6 month check up, Hudson weighed in at 19.5 pounds! He hasn't outgrown his carseat yet but in the next few weeks we are going to have to purchase one. He's also in the 90 percentile for height too at 27.7 inches.
We also went to get his 6 month immunizations and I was surprised to see that he didn't cry at all for the first shot! The second one got him though and he cried and cried. He was a brave little guy.
This week has been pretty slow for us, it's been rainy and so I'm trying to find ways to keep him occupied throughout the day. The older he gets, the more stimulation he requires and the things that used to hold his attention for awhile now only hold it for a few minutes.
It's amazing how much he can change in even a week.

Random Monday morning

Little Huddy's got his two top teeth coming in. It doesn't seem to be bothering him too much but once they finally cut all the way through I know he'll feel better. He's been a brave little man. Tomorrow we're off to the doctor for his 6 month check up and vaccinations, I'm interested to see how much he weighs now!
He's getting pretty good at sitting on his own but I have to make sure that there's plenty of soft cushioning around him to break his fall. Last night we thought we'd give the swing another go and he loved it! We put him in it starting around 6 weeks I think and he didn't like it one bit but now he's quite amused. I'm glad we tried it again.
As for house building plans, we've found a plan that we love (although it still needs a few things changed) and have submitted it to a builder for a estimate. The builder we're going to use is the same one I do a lot of work for and I completely trust them. We've gotten the piece of land staked out (3 acres) and a rough idea of where the road has to go. Now it's on to getting things surveyed, getting the subdivision approved, and figuring out utilities. Utilities shouldn't be a problem since there is 3 lots that we subdivided last year just adjacent to the south and already ran to the property line.
The one thing I'm having trouble with is figuring out how to place the house, where to plant trees, put a driveway etc. I'm good with interior layouts, not so good with the exterior. I wonder if there's someone we could go to that could help us with this.

Happy half birthday

Dear Hudson,

Happy 6 months my little darling. You are no longer my little baby that I once was able to hold for as long as I wanted. Now you squirm and want to sit to see the whole world. You don't want to miss anything.
You have grown into a wonderful little boy who loves having stories read to him, being thrown into the air, and experiencing anything new. I know you will be adventurous and daring when you are older but just don't forget that everyone still needs their mom. I keep trying to teach you how to hug and kiss however you haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet, lol. One day.
You aren't crawling either but you like to be upright so I'm not so sure that you won't walk before you crawl. You love your veggies (at least that's what I tell myself) and are eating solids twice a day now. You don't seem to mind it at all but you still like the comfort of the bottle. You still have just the two teeth although I don't think it'll be too long before you have the top ones come in.
You recognize faces and smile when you see your aunts and uncles and both sets of grandparents. You are loved by many people Hudson. I hope they all become as important to you as you are to them. You are also beginning to make a best friend out of Maddie. Your persistence has paid off and she's now coming around to you. She'll let you touch her and pet her without too much hesitation but she does still have her moments. I sometimes think that she's able to produce the biggest smiles out of you.
I can't wait to show you the world Hudson, there's so much to learn.

Love always,

Your momma

AF showed up last night. Now that my cycles seem to be a bit on the irregular side and I'm not charting, how will I know when I'm late. Perplexing.
In other news, Hudson had his first sleepover at grandmas house. He had fun and was a very good boy she reported. I was a bit leery leaving him there overnight but he didn't seem to mind. He slept good and wasn't grumpy at all. It's good that he's able to spend time with his extended family too, it's important.

Misa

It's says I can't access your profile, help!! :)

I've been trying for awhile now.

30/30

Today is my 30th birthday (cue the singing and cake!), yay!! It's also D's 30th too and we're going out to celebrate with a few friends. D's mom has graciously offered to babysit Hudson and I'm looking forward to a night out.
Today is also CD 30 for me. Why is this strange to note you ask, well for as long as I could remember my cycles have been very clockwork and always 25 days. Even at 6 weeks to the day after Hudson was born, my cycle resumed it's 25 days. I'm now 5 days late. I've taken multiple HPT's and all have come back negative. I don't remember being under any stress around O, I haven't started any vigorous exercise routines, on any medication, etc. I have no clue as to why AF is so late. A day or two I can understand but 5?? Never in 15 years has it been like this so I'm getting a bit concerned.
When I was pregnant with Hudson I knew I was pregnant before I tested. I could feel it. Now I don't feel really any symptoms at all except the occasional nausea. But every pregnancy is different just like I've read that some people get one BFP before AF is due and then the next time they don't find out until well after she's overdue. Just like every baby is different, so is this. But after 5 days you would think I would be able to see a positive if it were true. Maybe this is just a freak month and I O'd late or not at all.
As you can probably tell I'm just anxious to find out one way or another.

Baby food

Yesterday I got out the blender and whipped up a whole bunch of baby food! I was quite proud of myself actually. It was easier and faster than I thought it'd be and kind of fun too.
I made pears, bananas, sweet potatoes, green beans, and avocados. I'm going to still feed Hudson rice cereal in the morning and then try one new food a week before I start mixing and giving him a few different kinds in a day just to be sure in the allergy department.
This week is sweet potato and he actually really liked it (or at least I'm telling myself that to make myself feel better). He gobbled it up like 3 tablespoons worth and then drank an entire bottle of formula. Maybe he was just hungry, lol!
Oh, and the best part--it only cost $12.11 for it all :)

My little howler monkey

So Hudson has a new favorite thing he does. Screeching at the top of his lungs. For no reason. Well I'm sure there's a physiological reason like trying to strengthen his lungs (at least that's what I tell myself).
He doesn't do it to get my attention, doesn't do it solely when he's happy, mad, sad, excited, etc.
Me and the Tylenol hope it's a phase he's going through.
